Data Backup
The importance of frequent or daily backup of data cannot be over emphasized. In case of network or system failure, a recent backup may be the only recourse to restoring your Artsystems database.
Backup Data In Artsystems Pro>Preferences
There is an easy way to backup databases in Artsystems Pro > Preferences > Data Files > Backup Database. Choose a location (folder) for the backup file, which will be included in any existing automatic backup procedures.
General Backup
Protecting your data is essential. The best way to secure your Artsystems data is to establish a formal backup system utilizing removable storage media (e.g. CD, DVD, External Hard Drive, or Tape Drive) or Online Backup. Artsystems strongly recommends that a formal backup system policy is instituted. Please consult with your hardware/network consultant to establish a backup plan.
When establishing a general backup system, please plan on backing up the following Artysystems’ components:
- yourname.db: This file is your main data file. The location of this file is determined during the installation of the Artsystems software. If installed to the default location during program installation, the data.db file will be found in the directory MacintoshHD/Users/Shared/Artsystems/Databases.
- Documents folder: This folder contains documents that are generated with Artsystems (invoices, consignments, infosheets, etc.). The Documents folder location is determined at installation. The default location on a Mac platform is: MacintoshHD/Users/Shared/Artsystems/Documents.
- Images: If attaching digital images to records in Artsystems, these images should be backed up as well. Images attached in Artsystems are copied to the Images folder determined at installation. The default location on a Mac platform is: MacintoshHD/Users/Shared/Artsystems/Images. Backing up this folder will save a lot of time. Note: The Artsystems/Images folder contain auto-resized copies of the source image files. We recommend that you backup your high-resolution source image files as well.
- Custom Reports: Custom Reports are located in the same folder as Artsystems standard reports. The directory location of reports is Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Artsystems/Reports and on Windows: C:\ProgramData\Artsystems\Reports.
Please contact Artsystems if further backup options are required.
